March 2021
RITUAL.
During most of my spare time this month I have been deep into a book (or two). I tend to read non-fiction which usually means that I have something in particular I’m learning about and have then bought a number of books and trying to read them all at once! This month I have gotten through more than usual. I know it can be hard to fit reading in with everything else to keep on top of now, so I thought I’d share a little of what has worked for me… using a kindle- although it’s really not the same as the feeling of a real book, if you read multiple books at once like me it is easy to carry around with you and read in any spare moments/lunch breaks. Before bed- put your phone down. Get comfortable and read until you can no longer keep your eyes open…a great way to fall asleep and bypass any anxious thoughts trying to keep you up..! If you’re particularly sucked into the book you might find yourself reaching for it as soon as you wake up too, definitely better than checking phones first thing. Last tip- if the book is not grabbing your attention, just move on, no need to force yourself, there is so much out there :)
NOURISH.
Shea butter and coconut oil. This mixture is my favourite to use on my skin after a shower. When it’s so cold it’s harder to be enthusiastic about this, but now that it’s warming up a little I have enjoyed using this mixture again! I haven’t found any pre made product to beat the silky smooth that this achieves! It also naturally contains high amounts of vitamins A & E which even out skin tone.
SELF PRACTICE.
I can’t wait for in person classes, but in the mean time I have been enjoying connecting online.
I mentioned Sam and her classes at Ici-self care in Paris in a post I wrote last summer, explaining my yoga journey and becoming a teacher. Well, I was very excited when she announced her online yin classes which began last month. Although covid has built many walls to restrict what we can do, there is some areas in which the walls have come down…I often seem to make special connections with people and places when I am travelling, so this time has been special in some ways to connect to those people or experiences which I had not expected to be able to access again…
Sams classes run on the first Sunday each month, I suggest following her instagram for updates and instructions to book! <3
SELF STUDY.
The Centre of Yoga Studies have been running free live talks which you can sign up to join via eventbrite. They are also usually recorded and posted on Youtube here.
In honour of International woman’s day the talks during March had all been connected to the theme of women in yoga. For any teachers or serious practitioners, I highly recommend keeping up to date with these conversations!
