RITUAL.
Exploring! Lockdown has changed my perspective a little on travelling, I look forward to going abroad again but for now I have been enjoying exploring locally. On our days off during the past few weeks we have been driving out to explore different Sussex towns and villages. I feel a lot more appreciative of the beauty that I used to often overlook.
It’s been fun to feel like a tourist so close to home. And it’s nice to support the local shops and cafes. Seaside towns have been one of our favourites!
NOURISH.
Spring weather gets me in the mood for the green stuff again! I’m conscious of getting a regular antioxidant boost for general health and repair. I tend to make up the smoothies recipe each time depending on what ingredients I have, this particular one consisted of:
spinach, one date, a green powder mix of barleygrass, baobab and tocos, pumpkin seeds, hemp oil, goats milk
SELF PRACTICE.
Aside from my own yoga and meditation practice I feel that watching the change of seasons can hold a lot of lessons. I am so fortunate to have a garden full of life- birds making their nests, trees sprouting their leaves again. This cherry tree always seems to be a little late to bloom... but it always gets there. It’s beautiful to experience a slightly different view every morning as I brush my teeth! Witnessing the passing of time can really put things into perspective, the natural cycle of growth and decline. Connecting to this in nature can help us to relate to this inevitable cycle within us too. We are not separate to nature, we must always move forward, be able to let go and to begin again (but moving at your own pace.)
SELF STUDY.
I’ve made it to over 200 days of Duolingo! Since October I’ve practice daily, sometimes a lot, sometimes a little. But however small there really is something powerful in committing to something everyday. Practicing a language is one of the best ways to exercise your brain, to keep all those neural connections sharp. For yogis practicing your Sanskrit- you can use the Hindi course to test yourself on the script and sounds.
I have also been reading a number of yoga memoirs… some good some not so good, but all interesting to me on some level. An intimate insight into how others perceive yoga and how it intertwines into their lifestyle.
